A Toronto native, Jasmine Wevers is a Lake Tahoe resident and landscape portrait photographer.
She studied economics and computer science at UCSD where she took her
first photography class to fulfill a fine arts requirement. She studied
traditional darkroom techniques, working primarily with B&W film. While her
career took her into a technical field, she continued to pursue her passion
for photography by enrolling in the New York Institute of Photography.
Working in high tech brought her to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1989,
where she founded two successful software companies. Jasmine and her
husband Jerry left the Bay Area to raise their two children in the Lake
Tahoe area.
Living in Lake Tahoe
inspired a new venture in fine art photography. With her love of
photography and the outdoors it was a natural and logical transition,
eventually replacing her traditional SLR with a digital SLR. Her creative
prints are a blend of her technical, artistic and photographic skills.
Shooting with a Nikon D300 and a lightweight Nikon D70 enables her to take her camera along
on long hikes in the Sierras and elsewhere.
Artist’s Statement
“A central theme in all of my work is the American landscape. Inspired by
the National Park Services’ tag line Experience Your America, I try
to take that literally through my photography. While I love getting that
perfect sunset shot, I find beauty and art in everyday Main Street America.
I usually work on several
themes concurrently. I shoot for perfection and often take hundreds of
photos to capture the vision I had for a particular landscape. I try to
print, mat and frame most of my images, and when I outsource my printing I
oversee the printing process so that my images are printed with the highest
quality and precise color reproduction."

One of my photos was
recently chosen to represent the American Landscape series by American
Journal magazine (August 2007). To have my work displayed side by
side with amazing photographic talent is the greatest honor. |
